PierMonkey

The Ocean Can Email You

"Email me when waves are at least 3 ft from ESE–ENE at 10 seconds, AND wind is under 6 mph from the west." — an actual PierMonkey alert.

Combine anything

Most alert tools let you set a wave-height threshold and call it a day. PierMonkey alerts stack as many conditions as you want — wave height, swell period, swell direction, wind speed, wind direction, water and air temperature, barometric pressure — all of which must be true at once. That's the difference between "there are waves" and "it's on."

Direction-aware, the way surfers think

Directions are picked on a compass rose — tap the sectors you care about (say, ESE through ENE) and the alert handles the math, even when your window wraps around due north. Wind direction works the same way, so "light and offshore" is one condition, not a spreadsheet.

Live readings or future forecast

Point an alert at live buoy data and it fires the hour your conditions arrive. Point it at the forecast and it fires days ahead — "your Saturday window at New Smyrna is looking 4 ft and offshore" — with lead time to plan around it. Surf-spot alerts automatically use the spot's nearest buoy.

Questions surfers ask

Do surf alerts cost anything?

No. Alerts are part of the free PierMonkey account — no premium tier, no credit card.

Can an alert watch the forecast instead of live conditions?

Yes. Every alert can run in Live mode (fires when current buoy readings match) or Forecast mode (fires when the model predicts your conditions in the next 24 hours to 7 days).

How do you keep alerts from spamming me?

Alerts are edge-triggered — they email you when conditions BECOME true, not on every reading — and each alert has a cooldown you choose, from 1 to 24 hours.
