Track the Storm. Score the Swell.
Every active hurricane, typhoon and tropical storm on one live map — with its official forecast track and the wave energy it's throwing at your coastline.
Global coverage, official sources
PierMonkey tracks storms from both agencies that matter: the National Hurricane Center (Atlantic and East/Central Pacific) and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (West Pacific, Indian Ocean, Southern Hemisphere). Each storm shows its intensity on the Saffir-Simpson scale, forecast cone, and official predicted track out to five days.
Storms that actually move
Scrub the map's forecast timeline and each storm marker rides its predicted track — intensifying, recurving, or dissipating exactly as forecast — while the wave-energy map blooms around it. You're not looking at a static cone graphic; you're watching five days of future unfold, storm and swell together.
Storm data refreshes hourly from NHC and JTWC advisories.
See the next storm before it has a name
The map also draws the National Hurricane Center's formation areas — shaded zones where a new storm may develop, colored by probability, with the official outlook text one tap away. When the wave map shows energy brewing with no named storm nearby, the formation area explains what the models are seeing.
Why surfers track storms
Hurricane swell is some of the best surf of the year — if you know when and where it lands. Pair the storm tracker with spot ratings and a swell alert, and the ocean emails you when that Category 3's energy is due at your beach.
